On June 4, 2011, Tilles Park Neighborhood Association (TPNA), will host its bi-annual fundraiser, the Taste of Tilles, which takes place in Tilles Park after the TPNA 5k! There will be many fun activities taking place from 10:30am-4pm. Many local restaurants will bring samples of their food for you to purchase. These restaurants include: Bruno’s, Chris’ Pancake and Dining, El Paisano, Biggie’s, Trattoria Marcella, Pietro’s, Bellacino’s, LoRusso’s Cucina, Stellina Pasta Café, Kreative Kakes, and many more!
Besides these popular restaurants, there will be much more to do at the park. There will be live music throughout the day, children’s activities, and even a washer’s tournament! City Hockey Aims For Synthetic Ice in Tilles Park
The St. Louis Board of Alderman have approved a plan by the local non-profit City Hockey to replace the current roller rink in Tilles Park with a new facility featuring synthetic ice. According to the City Hockey website, they aim:
… to tear down the barriers that keep city children from the sport and bring new players to the game. Thereby, instilling in participants the values of teamwork, dedication, tenacity and self-respectthat are so necessary to be successful in both hockey and life.
City Hockey intends to supply several kids with all the equipment necessary for playing hockey; they will also be supplying the capital necessary to construct the new facility at the park. The group is accepting applications for their inaugural season.
Fox 2 News reported last night on the story, as well as the Suburban Journals.
